PRIDE.com Gets Real with Queer Eye's Fab Five for its Pride Digital Issue

LOS ANGELES (May 12, 2023) – PRIDE.com is thrilled to unveil its latest digital drop today, featuring the beloved Fab Five from Netflix's hit show Queer Eye on the cover. Celebrating the show's seventh season, the cover story — "The Yassification of NOLA" — penned by Editor-in-Chief Rachel Shatto takes an in-depth look at the Fab Five's latest mission in New Orleans, a city marked by resilience, culture, and survival. “There was still a hope [there],” the squad’s culture expert, Karamo Brown, tells PRIDE for the story. “But there was a different hope than maybe our heroes in Atlanta or Kansas City.”

Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, and Tan France bring PRIDE inside their continuing journey of inspiring, healing, and bringing hope to the heroes they encounter. NOLA's vibrant spirit and tragic history serve as a metaphor for the Fab Five's mission, making it a fitting location for this season. PRIDE’s speaks with the group about the specific challenges (and heartwarming moments) they encountered in the Big Easy.

While the Fab Five tell PRIDE they are surprised by the series' continued success, they’re grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in more powerful ways. “Season after season the more we go into it, the more we’re really peeling back layers of what the queer community means or what marginalized groups are and what they look like,” style guru France tells PRIDE. “So as much as I love season one and season two, [they] felt very surface.”

The new season also highlights the changing political landscape and its impact on the queer community, providing a platform to discuss these significant issues. “Historically if you look, it seems like for a lot of marginalized communities, the story has gone that you take a few steps forward, and then there’s a little regression and then you take a few step…it seems like we’re in the midst of a pretty big setback at the moment,Jonathan Van Ness tells PRIDE.

The Fab Five's journey has not only transformed the lives of their heroes but has also profoundly affected their own. Queer Eye’s seventh season is a must-watch and our interviews are a must-read for superfans who want to know everything about it.

The digital drop is available now on PRIDE.com.
