Out Presents GRAMMY-Winning Pop Star Kim Petras for the Ultimate Pride Experience

NEW YORK (May 9, 2023) – Out, the world’s leading LGBTQ+ fashion and lifestyle brand, is thrilled to announce its May/June issue with the talented and groundbreaking GRAMMY-winning pop sensation Kim Petras gracing the cover. Kim recently released her buzzy new single “Alone” (with Nicki Minaj) via Republic Records/Amigo Records and dropped a hot video for the song following her appearance at the Met Gala. Her Out cover continues a milestone year for Kim that started with her first and LGBTQ history-making GRAMMY win for “Unholy”– her #1 global platinum smash hit with Sam Smith which has more than 1 billion streams.

The May/June Pride issue celebrates the diversity and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community, showcasing an array of voices and stories. In addition to the cover feature on Kim Petras, the issue includes an in-depth interview with celebrated interior designer and Queer Eye cast member Bobby Berk, who shares his design philosophy, inspirations, and how his LGBTQ+ identity has shaped his work in the industry, plus a sit-down with comedian, writer, and actress Fortune Feistier. Broadway enthusiasts can look forward to a dazzling feature on the hit show Some Like It Hot, offering a unique glimpse into the behind-the-scenes magic with composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman on bringing this iconic production to life.

The issue’s drop party will take place on May 18, 2023, at Nebula NY (135 W 41st Street). The event, sponsored by Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Belvedere Vodka, will also celebrate the upcoming Can’t Cancel Pride 2023: The Future Starts Now. The fundraiser, presented by P&G and iHeartMedia, is a critical initiative dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community during these challenging times. The May/June issue also includes an interview with Can’t Cancel Pride’s founder Brent Miller in a feature that celebrates the charity concert’s history. A special Can’t Cancel Pride digital cover is forthcoming.

“Now more than ever, it’s essential for Out to amplify the stories and voices of the LGBTQ+ community,” said Out’s Editor-in-Chief, Daniel Reynolds. “Our May/June Pride issue is a testament to our ongoing commitment, featuring individuals and initiatives that continue to break barriers, inspire, and bring us closer together.”

P&G and iHeartMedia’s Can’t Cancel Pride 2023 will stream on June 15 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT available on iHeartRadio’s YouTube and Facebook pages as well as iHeartRadio’s PrideRadio.com, Revry, The Roku Channel, and The Advocate Channel. Equalpride, parent company of Out and The Advocate Channel, is a proud media sponsor for the event.

ABOUT KIM PETRAS

GRAMMY-winning, international pop sensation and critically acclaimed songwriter Kim Petras has become one of music’s most buzzed-about talents, self-styling a massively dynamic career. Kim won her first GRAMMY for "Unholy” alongside Sam Smith and accepted the award with a moving speech. She also made her debut on the GRAMMY stage with Sam as well as on Saturday Night Live, and the BRIT Awards. “Unholy” rocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard Global 200 Chart, Spotify and Apple Music worldwide charts, the U.K. Official Singles Chart, and the Mediabase Top 40 Airplay Chart. The song also marked a historic first in LGBTQ+ chart and GRAMMY history – Petras and Smith became the first openly transgender solo artist and non-binary solo artist, respectively to ascend to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and win a GRAMMY in the category of Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Kim also recently released her single "brrr" which she performed on Late Night With Seth Meyers and at Billboard’s Women In Music event where she was honored with the Chartbreaker Award not long after receiving Variety’s Innovator of the Year Award alongside Sam Smith.

With lavish praise from major mainstream publications and tastemaking outlets worldwide and sold-out headline tours of North America and Europe, Kim has released a string of critically acclaimed singles and projects, including her Halloween-themed project TURN OFF THE LIGHT. After years of triumphing as an entirely independent artist with her larger-than-life magnetism, Petras signed to Republic Records / Amigo Records and is gearing up to release more new music soon.
